Rock Climbing

at Enchanted Rock

Layback at Thor's Flake

A series of classes at Enchanted Rock designed to accommodate climbers with limited experience climbing outdoors. Our experienced guides provide a supportive environment with clear instruction and guidance on the use of equipment, technique and safety issues. Each class will cater for a wide range of abilities so that participants can select the level of challenge appropriate for their current levels of skill and confidence.

Located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Enchanted Rock offers an exciting diversity of climbing experience. Formed by a huge upwelling of magma, exfoliation of the exposed dome has created jumbles of large boulders, sheer faces, jagged outcrops, cracks, ledges and overhangs.

Climbing at Triple Crack Sanctuary

Accessibility is excellent with many climbs only a short to moderate hike from the parking lot. Many of the routes have permanent top-roping anchors, there is an excellent selection of bolted routes for sports lead climbing and numerous crack climbs which lend themselves to trad leading with cams or wedges.

As part of Enchanted Rock State Natural Area e-Rock comes under the jurisdiction of the Texas Parks and Wildlife department which insists that guides working within the park are registered. All climbers are required to sign in prior to climbing in the park.

Texas Parks and Wildlife department works closely with the local climbing community to ensure that environmental impact is minimized. Members of the local climbing community put in many hours of volunteer work maintaining trails which benefit all park visitors.

The guides working for Rock-About have many years of experience climbing and guiding at the park. They have detailed knowledge of the climbing areas and are dedicated to ensuring that each of their guests enjoys a safe and fulfilling experience.

Our next climbing adventure will be October 16th to October 26th 2007 . For booking information or other questions email me at climbing@texas.net . If you include a phone number I will call you back.
